Prior to forming Cohen & Small in 1975, Ron was associated with the U.S. government in Washington D.C. and a law firm in New York.

- Representing a major subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company in complex litigation. Over $5,000,000 was recovered in this case.
- Defending a major Houston law firm in proceedings brought against the firm by a bankruptcy trustee.
- Representing a major international car rental company, as the plaintiff, in a suit arising from the faulty design of its facility at Houston Intercontinental Airport.
Ron is a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association and has served on the boards of various community organizations.

Bill Small is an experienced business transaction lawyer who has practiced in Houston since he was admitted to the Bar in 1971 and with the firm of Cohen & Small since 1975.
Bill has handled transactions for companies whose sales range from $500,000 to $300,000,000 per year, including:
- Financing
- Restructuring
- Mergers
- Asset acquistions and sales
Parties in these transactions have included Fortune 500 companies and money center lenders.
Since the inception of his private practice, Bill has provided general business representation in the Healthcare field to:

- Individually and in groups
- Healthcare businesses including hospitals and clinics
This has involved two of the largest groups of medical specialists ever assembled in Houston, and included some of the largest "for profit" and "not for profit" healthcare providers in the U.S.
